The book See How it’s Made by Penny Smith is a very enjoyable informative book about the process of manufacturing various products. I loved this book because it is filled with pictures to clearly show how each object is made. For example, to see how oil paint is made, there is a step-by-step picture chart to show the reader the exact method of oil paint manufacture. Under each picture was a short description about what was happening for further explanation. There are real life pictures used to give the audience clear image of creating oil paints. Since this book is nonfiction, it can be challenging to engage the reader. However, through extra-textual features this book does a great job of keeping the audience interested. On page twenty, the words are shaped in a “U” position to mimic the shape of a pointe shoe, which was what they were describing. The book also has clear headings so the reader can find a topic that is interesting to them, and read about it. There are so many options to peak the readers’ interest; there is a section about ice scream, honey, electric guitars, soap and brown glass. This book has something for everybody. The language is also very descriptive, especially when it says, “He blows through the blowpipe into the gob. The gob gets bigger and fills the mold”(pg. 17). The use of exciting action verbs like blows, helps keep the audience interested and anxious to read more. This book really helps children understand the world around them by showing them that everything you touch comes from somewhere. Objects can be made naturally, or it can be manufactured, but after reading this book, the audience knows that everything is made. ( ) Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
