P.S. Longer Letter Later is about two best friends, Tara and Elizabeth, who begin writing to each other as pen pals once Tara's family moves to another state. Tara and Elizabeth came from very different upbringings, Elizabeth, the daughter of a wealthy business man, and Tara, the result of a teenage pregnancy raised in a very unstable environment. However, despite their differences, the two could not be closer. Their letters begin at the start of the new school year, shortly after Tara's move. and continue on throughout the entire year alternating back and fourth with each girl. Throughout the year, each girl experiences new changes including new friendships, changes in income, family problems, relationships, and much more. I felt this book was a very good way to show seemingly adult issues, in a way that 5th and 6th graders could understand and relate to. This book also was a lot of fun in the sense that we were able to understand things from both main character's perspectives thanks to the way it was written, having the letters alternate with each chapter. The other thing I personally enjoyed about this book, was that having it written in letters really made the book feel very personal for the reader. It was very easy to understand and identify with the characters, which is very important, especially for younger readers. ( )

This is a chapter book that is a great read for beginners getting into longer books. It brings together two young girls and continues their friendship through writing letters. They continue to write and grow as friends.

Tara*Starr and Elizabeth are best friends, separated when Tara and her parents move to another city. The story starts as they each face their first day of school on their own - and as the school year passes, their friendship is tested by changes more than mere distance. Tara finds new friends and interests in her new school while Elizabeth's family falls apart.
This felt dated, and Tara for up my nose with her determined advice - it is easy to tell someone what to do from a distance.
The Tara and Elizabeth were interesting girls, and the two authors brought their characters to life. The authors also narrated their letters for the audiobook, which was a treat. ( )
