Louisa and David and their little girl Emily are true pioneer folks. They have found their place and are building their home and working their land and are a real part of their community. They have good rapport with their Indian friends and you would think they could sit back and enjoy the land where they live. But when you are growing as a community, people can and will cause problems. I didn't like what the power people did to the Indians at this time (read the book to find out what I am talking about), and the unrest it caused, along with the discovery of gold nearby. It brings fear to the life style for most of the folks in Seattle. This story only covers about a year in the life of Louisa and David and leaves you in the middle of the unrest and ready to see what happens next in , 'Sweetbriar Autumn'. (
