I give the author a big thumbs up for all the research and work she put into taking a part of our history (the growth of Seattle in '53', 54'. 55'), and putting it into a work of fiction for everyone to enjoy and learn from. This is the 4th story in the "Sweetbriar Series" and continues on with the life of David and Louisa Denny and the beginning years of the town of Seattle, Washington.

Louisa and David and their little girl Emily are true pioneer folks. They have found their place and are building their home and working their land and are a real part of their community. They have good rapport with their Indian friends and you would think they could sit back and enjoy the land where they live. But when you are growing as a community, people can and will cause problems. I didn't like what the power people did to the Indians at this time (read the book to find out what I am talking about), and the unrest it caused, along with the discovery of gold nearby. It brings fear to the life style for most of the folks in Seattle. This story only covers about a year in the life of Louisa and David and leaves you in the middle of the unrest and ready to see what happens next in , 'Sweetbriar Autumn'. ( )
