Cap No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. 56212 What a complete waste of my 50 cents at the thrift store. I could feel myself becoming stupider with every sentence. It's a real shame that so many people give this sack of shit any credence whatsoever. glenn really needs to just stick to his radio show mocking women that have had miscarriages. He's much better at doing that. A real upstanding mormon. The only thing that saved this guy's career from the abysmal failure he was becoming was the fact that he morphed into a fear mongering super patriot post 9/11. If you find yourself becoming immersed in this trash go straight down to your local book store and buy Alexander Zaitchik's "Common Nonsense: Glenn Beck and the Triumph of Ignorance" I found this book to be very intelligently, and often funny, written. It wasn’t just a bunch of right-wing rhetoric slapped on pages and tossed out to the public. On occasion, Beck even agrees with the left, often the right, but mostly he lands somewhere in the middle with his own well-researched thoughts and ideas. It is set up in textbook style, with inserts and graphs and illustrations to further make his points. With the chapter on Child Molesters, he makes it a point to say that this is a subject in which all political lines fall and we become just people, fathers and mothers, who desire to protect our children. With each chapter, Beck offers a solution to the problems he addresses. Not only does he say, “Here’s the problem and here’s how we can solve it,” but he also explores the history and thinking behind the problem and how we got here. His chapter on the UN is particularly acerbic, his solution to the problem a bit shocking. Click for full review: http://thekoolaidmom.wordpress.com/2010/01/04/an-inconvenient-book-by-glenn-beck... I had seen Glen Beck’s name on LT so when we saw this audio book on sale we bought it to use for our trip up north this month. I discovered that in addition to being an author he is also host of a radio talk show, which explains a lot about this audio book. It is done in segments that include humor, political issues and haranguing. I agreed with much of what he said, disagreed with some and found some of the humor amusing. He could have used a good editor because we usually “got the point” long before he finished talking about it. My biggest objection to this audio version was the manner in which he narrated, especially when he was talking about the political stances of people with whom he disagreed. He tended to use a derisive and often downright nasty tone of voice in these instances which I did not find amusing and I felt demeaned his presentation, even when I agreed with the point he was making. This audio book illustrates what my husband and I consider to be one of the biggest problems we have in the United States now. Political debate has been reduced to the level of trying to smear your opponent rather than each side trying to present a reasoned argument to support its view point on an issue. Bottom line: He had some interesting things to say about current issues and raised questions that should be considered and discussed from both sides. The impact of his political message, in our opinion, was often lessened by the demeaning style of delivery.
