Definitely a book for older school age kids who are interested in art, or famous feminist figures. ( ![]() Summary: This book is about Frida a native from Mexico. The book describes Frida with biographical poems which also have her artwork attached to them. Review: I love the book its great and informal. Easy to follow and great to rid to children. Class: Can use to teach the history of Frida and what she stood for. Media: Print and paint Grade: Intermidiate- middle Genre: Realistic Fiction Frida Kahlo is a fascinating figure in modern art history, and there are many books written about her life. This book stands out because of the way that it is written in poetry that seems to capture Frida's own voice, and the photographs and paintings that accompany the poetry. Frida's story is inspiring because despite a life of physical pain, heartache, and loss, she continued to love life and to create stunning artwork. Curricular connections: a unit on art and artists; a study of Mexican art and culture; a focus on female artists; overcoming disabilities. The paintings were interesting and the info was okay, but the poetry wasn't so great. The paintings were interesting and the info was okay, but the poetry wasn't so great.
