Point Lookout Prison Camp for Confederates details the pro-South sentiments of the people of St. Mary's County during the War Between the States and describes the cruel sufferings of the Confederate prisoners of war who were imprisoned at Point Lookout.

It is dedicated to the gallant men and women of the Confederacy and in particular to those soldiers and sailors who died in support of their convictions at Point Lookout.

This seems to be an appropriate time for a history of a United States prisoner of war camp for Confederate Soldiers.

Point Lookout is located at the extreme southern tip of St. Mary's County, Maryland, at the confluence of the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac River.
