I would have started at a more reasonable hour but my son is teething and he wanted to be held. The mysterious two characters (the ones I've been thinking of as Team Rocket in my head -- sorry about that) have been more or less explained. I'm sure that their importance won't be revealed until later in the series (probably after Vol. 7). I'm getting tired of Chi's neurotic "will I find the one for me?" It reminds me of Zathras' constant: "No -- he is not the one. Zathras know." If you've watched Babylon 5, you know what I mean. :P In this volume Chi and Hideki go out of their respective ways to help their friends Yumi and Mr. Ueda. Also, Hideki agrees to have Minoru (with the grudging help of Dragonfly) learn more about Chi's origins. Shimbo's usual beginning email was cute when he referred to him and Takako watching a "Sakura" marathon. I think I'm jealous :-) I'm feeling a bit sad, from what I've learned about the Chobits series I'm pretty sure I'm getting to the end of the manga volumes that were published in this series and from what I hear, the end wasn't really a firm ending. However, I've still got a couple more volumes to go which I think I'll enjoy. Very cute series, was fun looking for references to computers in the body of the work. Perhaps dates this series though as well. Had very likeable characters, story was a bit confusing and has an ending that is.. a little disappointing. I felt like the ending was rushed and too abrupt. For most people, persocoms represent technology at its finest - after all, they can do anything you program them to and they make great looking companions. But for Yumi Oumura, persocoms bring out her deepest insecurities, and not without reason. Just as people once became addicted to their computers, many people are now addicted to their persocoms to the exclusion of other human beings. Because persocoms look so much like people, it's more than just addiction - it's an emotional bond that some would call love. Ordinarily this love would be considered one-sided, as how could a computer love a person back? When the persocom in question is the mysterious Chi, perhaps it's not such an impossibility. Ondanks de dreigingen en hoogoplopende emoties, is er nog steeds een berg humor die de soms wat vele herhalingen toch nog heel leuk maken. (
