HTML:50th ANNIVERSARY EDITIONâ??WITH A NEW INTRODUCTION BY FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA
Mario Puzoâ??s classic saga of an American crime family that became a global phenomenonâ??nominated as one of Americaâ??s best-loved novels by PBSâ??s The Great American Read.
With its brilliant and brutal portrayal of the Corleone family, The Godfather burned its way into our national consciousness. This unforgettable saga of crime and corruption, passion and loyalty continues to stand the test of time, as the definitive novel of the Mafia underworld.
A #1 New York Times bestseller in 1969, Mario Puzoâ??s epic was turned into the incomparable film of the same name, directed by Francis Ford Coppola, which won the Academy Award for Best Picture. It is the original classic that has been often imitated, but never matched. A tale of family and society, law and order, obedience and rebellion, it reveals the dark passions of human nature played out against a backdrop of the American dream.
GeekyRandy: No real relevance. Both are about gangsters and comes from a neutral POV. "The Pack" is also obviously influenced by "The Godfather". I love both books, perhaps you will too.
The story of the Corleone family and their life of crime. We see the family through various stages introducing the reader to the family and how and where they fit in the story. ( )
3.5 stars. Marred by some stupendously hollow female characters and a feeling that it was hastily stitched together from the pieces of a larger epic. But my, what a compelling story! ( )
Fast paced, violent, everything you want from a mafia story. The only annoyance for me was Johnny Fontane but, will be exploring more of Puzo's catalogue. ( )

Then with a profound and deeply willed desire to believe, to be heard, as she had done every day since the murder of Carlo Rizzi, she said the necessary prayers for the soul of Michael Corleone.
