Jessica Popper is becoming more like Jessica Fletcher, in that if you are a friend of hers or an acquaintance of a friend you will probably turn up dead. This time it's a vet. school friend who's she's been out of touch with for ten years. A sudden mysterious call at the crack of dawn and the next thing you know that friend is dead and Jessie is now investigating, much to the dislike of her fiance, Nick, who needs another whole series of books to explain why he's with her.

A typical mystery where all the pieces don't really come into place until the last few pages. I've taken to suspect the least suspicious character and it hasn't failed me once in this series of books. ( )
