In the 21st century, we should not be teaching our kids this outdated nonsense.
as someone who has tried to read the bible and failed (I didn't make it past the part when they start listing the ages in genesis), I'm obviously not qualified to give a real review of the content, but I do know that these ideas are harmful and not without victims.
For someone dealing with religious trauma from these purity culture teachings, I highly recommend Emily Joy Allison's book, #churchtoo: how purity culture upholds abuse and how to find healing. She's really amazing and much more qualified to talk about these things than I am.
To all those out there still in the midst of this struggle, I wish you luck and strength. Please don't forget that no matter how it may feel you are not alone in your struggles and there are ways out.
