This informational book is about what happens when it begins to rain outside. It also follows some children and what things they do when they play in the rain. The book also discusses how to know when it's about to rain and how to tell when it's stopped raining.

I liked this book because the writing flowed well and it had great illustrations. The writing in this book rhymes which allows the words to flow together very well. The book is well paced as well because the rhyming allows the reader to move along the pages with ease. An example of the rhyming is "Running, romping, puddle-stomping. Splash again. It's fun and then..." Another reason why I like the book is the illustrations are very interesting. Instead of drawn pictures or photographs the images are something different all together. They look like paintings over textured paper which is very different and interesting. Throughout the book, the images represent the pictures very well. The big idea of this book is the delight of rainy days for children. ( )

"I'm a flower in a shower", said by the young character in this story. There is a group of young boys who find themselves playing in the rain; they are intrigued by the rain. It scares everyone else and they begin to play even more. Even when it begins to storm, they are engaged from inside looking out. ( )

This was a good book about what children do when it starts to rain outside. It was set in the form of a poem and had amazing illustrations. Each picture looked like a collage where the characters and events going on in the story could pop out and come to life. The illustrations were very visually pleasing and engaging, and would help readers see how the characters were reacting to what was going on in the story. Second, the story employed poetic devices, such as rhyming throughout the story in AABB format. For example, one page stated, “Rain begins. Cools our skins. Raindrops splatter. People scatter.” Even though the text was very minimal and simple, this would be a great book for a teacher to read energetically during a poetry unit or even for readers who are beginning to read independently. It also helps readers understand that if they were on a playground and it started raining, it is important to go inside. The purpose of this story was to express the experience of children who are playing outside when it begins to rain. ( )
