My boys love silly poetry, and while I enjoyed the way this author use wordplay, I thought something was off with the construction of the poems themselves- some were great, but several didn't flow right, something to do with the meter that someone more knowledgable about poetry form would be able to explain! I just know they didn't sound right to my ear. My sons enjoyed some of the poems, though, which is what matters. ( ) This is a collection of poems that is silly and fun and sure to draw readers in immediately upon reading the very first poem, where the character feels a strong spring breeze realizing he forgot his pants. The illustrations are simple ink line drawings. They are whimsical and realistic and delightful to the readers aesthetic. The tone of the collection is informal, conversational making it easy for the reader to relate to the characters in the poem, whether it is a baseball player who strikes out, a child in trouble for bad behavior, or a person ill dressed for the weather. This would be a great addition to a poetry unit or for a classroom to make poetry more accessible to the students. Some of the poems are silly, some are gross, some are weird, but all of the poems made me smile. The style of the poems along with pen drawings reminded me of Silverstein. Though, I would still rank Silverstein's works over this title. Whereas some of Silverstein's poems were cautionary tales, I did not get that impression with any of Katz's poems in this title. The purpose of these poems seemed to be simply for amusement. In that the title succeeds. The shortness of the poems make this title accessible to kids as young as seven. The topic of many of the poems makes this title appealing up until about the fifth grade. I would recommend this title to kids looking for silly poems or for fans of Silverstein. I may also point out this title to kids looking for the humor section or joke books. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
