A great 14-page condensation of _The Case for Animal Rights_ by Tom Regan and "The Divine Imperative" by Emil Brunner. Rachels is the naturalist philosopher who opened the door to a great many pro-animal theorists. ( )

This is a decent compilation of articles for an intro-level ethics course. It pairs nicely with Rachels' The Elements of Moral Philosophy. The book includes excerpts from a few primary sources (Aristotle's NE, J.S. Mill's Utilitarianism, etc) as well as about 20 articles dealing with specific ethical issues such as abortion, euthanasia, and affirmative action. In some cases, I was disappointed with how the articles were edited down - many of them are incomplete or are missing portions of arguments that I wanted to discuss, and so had to be supplemented. Overall, though, I enjoy teaching from this book, and will probably continue to use it until I find a better anthology. ( )
