This story is about a man who lives in a village with many people who have great manners. He has bad manners and is not very nice to the people. Eventually, he goes out of town to see a friend and when he comes back the village people have changed everything to convince him it's not his village. When he is confused, they tell him what they did only after making him promise to have good manners from then on. He does and is much nicer to others. ( )

A clever boy and villagers devise a plan to improve the manners of one of their neighbors. This neighbor has no manners so once this rude man leaves the neighborhood they all work together to paint them and house so that when he returns he does not recognize his house so that maybe he will leave. Instead the man stays but is not rude anymore.

This is a realistic fantasy book because the story can be either real or fake. In this story, a clever boy comes up with an idea that changed a man with bad behavior. Illustrations on the book match the story very well, helping children to create scenes. The story is exaggerated. I don't believe that an adult will change his behavior simply because his neighbors pretend that he does not belong to there. But we should read the story through the lens of children. Children can learn from the boy's cleverness and his problem-solving ability. Teachers can use the story to emphasize the importance of having good behaviors, of conflict resolution, as well as co-operation. ( )

Review: This book is about a man who has very bad manners and is rude to everyone around him in his village, eventually the village makes a plan to get him to change his ways in order for him to behave and be polite toward everyone. When the plan takes action it works and the village gets the man to change, after that the man is polite and everyone lives happily ever after. This was a good fantasy book since it would be incredibly difficult to change everything that the people changed in a short amount of time and do so in order for it to look real.
