Paralyzed from waist down, Iliana is forced to give up her nursing career, but is determined to regain her independence; Ross, a movie caterer, struggles with guilt. Both are faced with redefining their life and relationship. Adderson chooses to infuse the story with quirky characters, intelligence, surprises, and even humour. ( ) Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . I enjoyed aspects of this book but I had a hard time caring about the main characters. The newlywed couple suffers such a tragedy, one that each deals with in their own way. But they never try to deal with it together, instead of growing closer and figuring out how they move forward they just exist. I kept thinking 'would it kill you to just talk?'Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . I enjoyed this book. I had read a similar book called The Dive from Clausen's pier - similar in that they both deal with the paralysis of a loved one. Though this book was more touching b/c there was more of a connection with the characters. Very well-written book. Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . A very low-key, gently-moving story that works because you care about the characters. Could have easily slipped into melodrama, but instead feels true-to-life. Ressenya escrita per a Crítics Matiners de LibraryThing . I enjoyed this book; always a bonus when you read the description and you are unsure. A couple involved in a car accident learns to cope with the wife's paralysis. Both have to change. I found the arc of story realistic, even the wife's attraction to a young man who finds her condition nonthreatening enough to try to have his first sexual experience with her. The author infuses a great deal of humor making this a great beach read or vacation read. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
Ross loves Iliana. And, to his amazement - she is sane, gorgeous and met him in entirely undignified circumstances - she loves him too. He asks her to marry him. She says yes. Life is improving by the minute. They have the most romantic wedding imaginable - an overgrown meadow, fabulous food cooked in pits by the groom himself, twelve regretful exes and two hundred and fifty merry drunken guests dancing till dawn. And then, a fortnight later, Ross is driving Iliana home, takes his eyes off the road for a second, and the trouble starts. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
