On the move by Miriam Stoppard is an informational book about movement. This book is colorful, interactive and has "pull me action tabs" Movements included are: jumping, spinning, swinging, swimming, and flying.
A great way to teach movement to young readers. I found the pull me tabs to be very exciting and children love to "make the book move"

Story extenders: gross motor games having the children act out the actions in the book. Playing jump the rope and sack races are fun and can be adapted for any skill level. For a great spinning activity add pinwheels to the science area or provide one for each child. see how long the pinwheels can spin. The book has activities like spinning tops, spinning coins and whirligig seeds. All of which can be added to the classroom. During group the children can name types of swimming creatures on a chart.[ducks, fish, frogs, jellyfish, whales, etc...]For flying children can make kites, airplanes and take them outside to test during recess.
