An engaging saga: lives of families in inner suburbs post World War II. Plot is well structured and characters attainable. (Slightly Park 'Poor man's orange' in style) ( )

A good "yarn" with likable and relatable characters. The author captures the different perspectives of the various relationships in the family well. A nice enjoyable read. ( )

It is good to read a book set in a country and a city that you know.

Hannah Gordon the main character of this book has always wnated to be someone important and to accomplish more that she has but she has married youn, had three children and is living in a back street in Sydney struggling to keep hold of her family and her home.
Then a tragic accident occurs on hers and her daughters birthday and this changes the lives of her and her children forever.
I enjoyed this book and felt i t captured the era very well. It was easy to identify with the characters and the struggles that they were having and the characters were likeable. ( )
