Comics mostly written by Keith Giffen (among others) is a fairly lame attempt at poking fun at serial comics from the 1940’s and 50’s. What Mr. Griffen and friends did here was to replace the word balloons from old comics with banter of their own while leaving the strips themselves intact. A decent premise when you think about it because the vast majority of comics from this golden era are fairly square. And while some of the stories get a half-hearted chuckle, especially the ones in “Outlaw”, the vast majority of the spoofs fall short. ( ) Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya
We hijacked some old 1940s and 1950s comic books and re-wrote the word balloons to make them funny! It's WHAT'S UP, TIGER LILY? for comic books, or comedy in the vein of MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000. Featuring a stellar array of creators, including comic book legend Keith Giffen (Justice League International, Lobo), Tranformers screenwriter John Rogers, Eureka TV show creator Andrew Cosby, X-Men writer Joe Casey, and Eureka series writer Johanna Stokes. Featuring a cutting, irreverant sense of humor that refuses to honor boundaries and has no problem cranking the sarcasm past the point of biting, WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?! proved to be a surprise sleeper hit that snuck up on the comic book market and painted a mustache on its upper lip while it was sleeping.
