I love survival stories and that's essentially what this one was. It had some elements of horror but that might have just been the heroine's imagination. Still a 9 year old lost in the wilderness is horrible enough. The survival element was well done and totally believable. The writing was immediate and it's no wonder SK is such a popular author. I loved Trisha, the heroine. She was full of spunk and had interesting inner dialog. A very boring bland book, like eating potatoes without salt. Odd, because the whole thing is about a little girl who gets lost in a forest. Over two hundred pages of berries, rain, mosquitoes and other disgraces. And it's rather enjoyable, but that doesn't change the fact that it's over two hundred pages of a little girl lost in a forest. One of my favorite Stephen King novels. Disc 6 is missing. Somewhere in New England, nine-year-old Trisha gets lost in the woods while on a walk with her family. Her only comforts are the radio broadcasts of Boston Red Sox games featuring her favorite player, closing pitcher Tom Gordon. Lonely, frightened, starving, and cold, Gordon becomes Trisha's imaginary companion - and the key to her survival against an unidentified someone (or some thing) leaving death and destruction in its wake.
As the narrator puts it: "The world had teeth and it could bite you with them anytime it wanted. She knew that now. She was only 9, but she knew it, and she thought she could accept it." Thanks to King's gruesome imagination, you as a reader feel the sharpness of those teeth. Pertany a aquestes col·leccions editorials

She listens to Red Sox baseball games on her Walkman, creating an imaginary friendship with her hero Tom Gordon. As she struggles to survive she realizes that something in the woods is watching her. I loved this book! I loved how King can write a story so good that the reader is pulled into the story!
