The trouble is there is a tale which ends with a baby being killed by being put in the tumble drier. It is the second story and most of them didnt appreciate the black comedy of this and stopped reading. which was a shame as there were much better stories after this. However, I do think he didn't quite get the balance between humour and being macabre at all right. To my surprise it was the exact same book as Holidays on Ice but with a different title. Tricky, tricky. I love his writing so I would recommend, but beware that Holidays on Ice is the same book as SantaLand Diaries. (  ) lacey.tucker | Mar 10, 2016 | Diverting enough. He is a wonderful humorist and storyteller and is a frequent contributor to NPR's This American Life.
