Greene begins with a delightful poem about nutrition, follows with a quick refresher course for me about how to stock my kitchen with healthy alternatives and the benefits of doing so. For example, I remembered, thanks to Greene, why I should be using more soy than dairy, more carob than chocolate, and soy margarine instead of regular. I learned something entirely new, and that's to use whole wheat pastry flour for baking instead of whole wheat flour (for things other than a hearty bread or pancakes, of course). And then to the good stuff: Each recipe sounds wonderful to make and to eat (like "Peter Piper's Red & Yellow Peppered Pita Pizzas", and "Runaway Bunny's Custard") and is presented on the page with lovely little quotes and pictures from our favorite classic children's books, fairy tales, and poems. How could there be a better combination than healthy food and literature? It's like this book were made just for me and I wouldn't sell my copy for a hundred dollars. ( )
