This was an excellent book where the pictures could have told the story without any reading being necessary. It is a story about a young boy who has a wagon that his parents pull him around in, to different places throughout the day. The boy imagines he is in different foreign and adventurous place while his wagon transforms to what ever his needs are. For example, at times it was a wagon, a sled, a boat, a tent and even a spaceship. However, his dog and teddy bear are always with him and they too seem to fit his needs in accompanying him with his adventures.

This book touched me because I too can remember having make believe adventures with my toys when I was growing up. I recalled having a power wheels when I was a young child and my brother and I would pretend to be at different places and pretent to be different people. I could not help but laugh and think about those good times we had when reading the book for the first time.

In the classroom, I used this book to read to a group of Elementary students with great success because of the vivid use of pictures. At first, the students appeared not to be interested in what I was about to read. However, I caught their attention as soon as I opened the book and began showing them the pictures while I was reading to them. I allowed the children’s comments on some of the interesting and funny things that they noticed on each page of the boys imaginary places. This group participation of the pictures allowed the students to want to participate and were eager for me to read the next page to see where we going next. I plan to use this same approach in the classroom again.
