Ford has so far managed to write a SF vaudeville spoof that I've enjoyed. I like vaudeville, and I like SF, but dear gods those things together go strangely in my head. Nevertheless, this book excels at the whole thing, and does a slapstick take on Star Trek I find to be quite charming, especially in contrast with his other works. Really well executed. ( ) Omigod. It's a perfectly mad farce, and a musical. I long for an audiobook version, but they'd never be able to afford the rights to the tunes for all the songs. I hunted this book down because of Teresa Nielsen Hayden's review, and she hit the nail on the head perfectly: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1QNO7TN5B8ULE/ref=cm_srch_res_rtr_alt_1 Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

On the otherwise unremarkable planet Direidi, the richest source of precious dilithium crystals ever seen has been found, and both the Federation and the Klingon Empire are determined to have it. Under the terms of the Organian Peace Treaty, the planet will go to the side best able to develop the planet and its resources. So each side sends the prime of its fleet to Direidi -- Captain Kirk and the "EnterpriseTM for the Federation, Captain Kaden vestai-Oparai and his ship the "Fire Blossom for the Klingons. But the Direidians have their own best interests in mind, and their dilithium fortune won't be easily won by either side. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
