Artemis is at boarding school in Ireland when he suddenly receives an urgent video-email from Russia. In it is a plea from a man who has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafiya: his father. As Artemis rushes to the rescue, he is stopped by captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon fairy police. But this time, instead of battling the fairies, he is going to have to join forces with them if he wants to save one of the few people in the world he loves.

All of the Artemis books are fun to listen to on CD except for six. They switched the narrator and it is like all the characters had a personality transplant. Very sad. ( )

I've been listening to the audio books with my 9 year old son and have to say that I've enjoyed them. ( )

Segundo libro de la saga iniciada con Artemis Fowl, la novela arranca con el descubrimiento de que el padre de Artemis sigue vivo en algún lugar del Círculo Polar Ártico. En el mundo subterráneo, los goblins parecen estar en contacto con algún humano, negociando el contrabando de armas prohibidas. El resto de los habitantes del mundo subterráneo, los seres mágicos, deberán pedir ayuda a Artemis. Y él deberá pedírsela a ellos, pues parecen ser los únicos que pueden echarle una mano en el rescate de su padre.
En esta segunda parte descubrimos a un Artemis igual de inteligente y astuto, pero más humano, que deberá combatir, ensuciarse y sudar -algo impensable en la primera entrega-, pero que reservará su energía para el final de la aventura, cuando concibe un ingenioso plan para liberar a su padre. También descubrimos que en el maravillo mundo de las hadas, las luchas por el poder son constantes y los espías se pasean por doquier.

A Milly bedtime read, 2nd in the series. Quite good fun and well plotted, but didn't blow me away. ( )
