I read this because my 6th grader was reading it in his language arts class. I was surprised at the sophisticated vocabulary used. I think I would have loved this book as a kid. ( ![]() An easy but entertaining story, especially the character of Turtle. Also a word puzzle book. You have all the clues; can you solve the puzzle before the winner of the game does? Recommended for those who often read YA literature. I think this book will appeal to fans of the Mysterious Benedict series. It took a while for me to warm up to it, but by the end I loved it. I thought this book was ok. Had potential but could have been better. End seemed too ‘fluffy’ and pulled together. At least it was a fast read. I almost didn't read this book. It came up next on my shelf and I almost passed it up because the reading level is said to be about middle grade. But I am so glad I decided to read it anyway. It's by far one of the best books I've ever read. I thought I had the ending figured out fairly early but I didn't! I believed up until the end that it was "so predictable" but I am happy to admit that I was wrong.
The book seems to suggest that the real American inheritance is transformation, and that American transformation is a mercurial thing. Ultimately, although the story is an exciting who-done-it, the emphasis on the ‘who’ is what keeps readers coming back. The characters make the story interesting, and they make the reader think, and that is exactly what a powerful book should do. If Raskin's crazy ingenuity has threatened to run away with her on previous occasions, here the complicated game is always perfectly meshed with character and story. Confoundingly clever, and very funny. Pertany a aquestes col·leccions editorialsContingut aTé l'adaptacióTé un estudiTé una guia d'estudi per a estudiantsTé una guia del professor
