It was supposed to be a relaxing trip for novelist Morgan Blake. Lazy days at a mountainside bed and breakfast in the small town of Perfect, working on her novel, trying to forget about Tyler Carson, a man she can't afford to love. But when she's involved in a hit-and-run accident-she's hit a man and he's run away-her plans are put on hold. The man she hit simply mouthed one word to her- "Help." Now it's her goal to give him that help. Gavin Antoine is the town's charming mayor and he would like to help Morgan forget about Tyler. Morgan's tempted to take him up on his offer. But as she's drawn deeper into uncovering what happened to the man she's hit, she's not sure whom she can trust. One thing's for sure: Morgan won't rest until she finds some answers. And someone else won't rest until Morgan is right where they want her.… (més)

I am going to be perfectly honest and say that I did not know what to expect when I sat down to read this book. Being new at reviewing books, I kept as open a mind as possible, and was thoroughly and pleasantly surprised.

I instantly was able to feel a connection with the main character, Morgan Blake, who is a published author who hits a terrible snag and a raging case of writers block. Her fiance, a police officer, was killed in the line of duty two years prior, and she just has not been able to get back in the saddle again. I am an aspiring author myself, and have felt the pains of writer's block too many times to count. To me, this helped make the story seem real.

Everyone knows one of those quiet, happy and pleasant on the surface kind of small towns. We have all visited one at one point or another in our lives, I am sure, and the realism in this novel is astounding. The level of detail in the story made me more able to feel as though I was there, living through the events with the characters. I just could not walk away.

When Morgan received an invitation to a book signing in small town West Virginia, to a town called Perfect, she thinks this is the answer to her prayers, but little did she know the dangers and challenges that would await her.

The degree of suspense in this novel kept me coming back, and I could not seem to walk away. I spent several hours locked into the story and every time I had to put it down, I could not keep from wondering what mystery the characters would uncover next!

Through the many twists and turns in this novel, you learn to remember that nothing is EVER as it seems on the surface, and taking things at face value may not be the best way to go. This is definitely one of the best things I have read in quite a while, and I cannot wait to see what else this promising author has in store. I am truly glad I read "The Trouble With Perfect" and have been introduced to a new author and a whole new class of novel! ( )

The trouble was I couldn't put it down!!!!! It held my interest from beginning to end.

Writer Morgan Blake is asked to come to a bookstore in Perfect to sign her latest book. She feels that would also be a great opportunity to get away and see if she can cure her writer's block. On her way there, she hits a man who ran in front of her car. Before he runs into the woods he mouths the word 'Help'!

Everyone in Perfect is very nice and helpful. (especially Gavin Antoine, Mayor of Perfect). But something kind of gives Morgan the creeps. Strange things are occuring but she chalks it up to being stressed lately and worried about the man she hit.

She calls her friend Tyler (who's a detective and whom she is VERY interested in) to let him know where she is and that she is alright. She is just about to tell Tyler about the man she hit when the line went dead.

She is unsure who she can trust. They ALL seem so nice but... something is just not right.

This was a fun and erie read. You were never sure what was going to happen around the next corner. I guarantee that if you start you will have a hard time putting it down. ( )
