Having been bullied by her classmates for being poor and left homeless by her gambling addict father who runs out on her and his skyrocketing debt, there's no way her life could get any worse. That is, until a kind looking man leads her into an unusual set up: becoming the tochigami for a rundown shrine populated by a trio of yokai, including a very arrogant fox-eared man who would rather drink and carouse than serve Nanami's will. What's a girl to do? You can read my complete review of KAMISAMA KISS volume one at my blog, here. I've been collecting this series since it first came out, but I only read the first two volumes before deciding to just wait until it was complete before reading it again. There's honestly a lot to like about this volume. The art is definitely original. Still undoubtedly shoujo, but not in the same vein as, say, Tanemura's work. Nanami is a strong protagonist. She's been dealt a pretty rough hand in life, but she takes it all in stride. She might be a little naive in that she's just like, "I don't have a place to stay, so I'll take this shady offer to live in the place indicated on this weirdly-drawn map," but that's part of the charm of manga. The scenes with Himemiko are hilarious, and Tomoe is a constant source of entertainment in his prissy judgmental way. I know Nanami is going to continue to have a hard time and face a lot of trials, and I'm looking forward to seeing how she handles it all. I mostly focus on manga and don't really watch much anime anymore (because I can get reeeeally particular about an anime changing a lot from the manga and RUINING IT LIKE FRUITS BASKET DID, and because I don't have time to keep up with ongoing shows), but I've heard the one for this series is a pretty decent, so I might check it out once I finish reading. There are 25 volumes in the Kamisama Kiss series. This is a shojo manga series. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t like this...that it would be too girly and fluffy for me. However, I ended up really liking it a lot. Nanami finds herself homeless when her dad takes off fleeing his debt collectors. She ends up helping a young man escape a dog and in return he offers her his house as lodging; he doesn’t use it and is looking for someone to take care of it. However, when Nanami arrives she finds out that the house is a temple and that she is its new keeper. She also finds out that there are certain Yokai there already who are supposed to help her keep up the temple. One of them happens to be a very cranky fox man, who is also very sexy. This was a well drawn manga that was easy to follow and humorous. I loved that Yokai are in here and that Nanami gets to journey in between worlds. This was a very well balanced story that I really enjoyed. Overall I liked this a lot and plan on continuing the series. I liked the story and the characters and really thought this was a lot of fun to read. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"Nanami Momozono is alone and homeless after her dad skips town to evade his gambling debts and the debt collectors kick her out of her apartment. So when a man she's just saved from a dog offers her his home, she jumps at the opportunity. But it turns out his place is a shrine, and Nanami has unwittingly taken over his job as a local deity. Nanami has all kinds of new responsibilities she doesn't understand, dangers she's unaware of, and a cranky ex-familiar who's ... actually pretty hot. What's a new-fledged godling to do?"--Cover. I've read several volumes, as I recall.
Never made it to the end.
Might revisit at a later date. ( )
