Sarah Maguire's Spilt Milk was first published in 1991 and is reissued as part of the Poetry Book Society's Back in Print list. 'The poet and critic, John Burnside, noted that Sarah Maguire's first collection of poems, Spilt Milk "demonstrated a keen ear and formidable intelligence, as well as artistry of the highest order. Her originality and clarity of vision, the incisive quality of her language and, most of all, her ability to create rich, multi-layered and multi-textured poetry, suggested that here was an original and exciting voice." Spilt Milk was published in 1991 to widespread acclaim, many fellow poets and reviewers commenting on her exciting tone, original voice and broad embrace of personal and political material. Sarah Maguire is the founder and director of the Poetry Translation Centre. In addition to Spilt Milk, a PBS Recommendation in its year of publication, Sarah Maguire's solo collections include The Invisible Mender (1997) and The Florist's at Midnight (2001); her fourth collection, The Pomegranates of Kandahar, will be published in 2007 and is a Poetry Book Society Choice. She is the editor of Flora Poetica: The Chatto Book of Botanical Verse. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
