I have been a fan of Lisa Jackson for many many years, in fact I have handed this series out to half of the women I work with. I love the combination of Bentz and his partner and each book is full of twists and turns that it is something i had a hard time putting down. Well done! I read a few of the reviews about this book. Some pro, some con. I found it fantastic. Every reader has their own opinions and I feel justified recommending this book. One set of twins die as they turn twenty-one, twelve years later another set of twins, about to turn twenty-one, found died. Is it a copycat or the same killer? Then at the very same time as the last twins were murdered then four other single murders happened. Eight murders in all. Were these also done by the same hand? It was suspenseful, a thriller, many crimes to unravel and many murders to connect to a serial killer that is seen and disappears as a ghost in the night. So many mysteries to chase and no ability to find who is behind them. There is an ex-wife, as a suspect, but she was buried twelve years ago. The ex-husband (a cop) started getting himself in trouble obsessing over seeing her and following her around California. He was one of the cops who investigated the first twins murders which was placed in the cold pile. There were always issues and situation that kept me reading because I too was obsessed in knowing the what, when, who, where and how’s of the story and mystery character. As far as I’m concern the Author carried all the suspense to the end. The story never gave away any close hints to who was the serial killer. Being the reader I was surprised, in awed at some of the events that took place. Even at the end when things started coming together the Author finally fills in the characters in question and ends with a dramatic ending…..Why one of the Tags on the book is ‘romance mystery“, I don’t understand. The only romance was small tidbits in the mind of a couple of characters….it was completely a suspenseful, mysterious murderous combining thriller…… This was a pretty good story, but towards the end it started to drag a bit trying to draw out the suspense as far as it could take it. After endless pages of Bentz wringing his hands and worrying over his wife, I had to look ahead finally and see "whodunit". Some of the story line didn't seem very believable, but I kinda of rolled with it for the sake of the story. I won't get too descriptive here so as not to give anything away, but it's an okay book.
