My mom loved this book as much as I did - recently she gave me my childhood copy that's been in her boxes all these years.

One of my favorite books of all time. This story is great to teach children about environmentalism in an appropriate, nonpolitical way. It also talks about generations, family, and love in general. the concept of home can never be discussed too much.

A fun story about a house that gets engulfed by the ever growing city around it. ( )

The Little House by Virginia Lee Burton is a book about a house that built in the country. Over time this house began being apart of a busy city as the enviorment was starting to be populated. After much time this house got to be moved from the city and back into a nice little countryside. From the outside this book may not seem like it could be used in a mathematics classroom. However, upon reading this book I think this is a great book to use to describe transformations in the classroom. To be specific, translations would be a great connection to this book because of the house moving from one location to another. This book is a great way to explain how translations only affect the location of a figure and not the appearance. ( )

A little house in the country observes the rhythm of the seasons and the activities of its inhabitants as the once-faraway city draws closer and closer, eventually engulfing it. But a descendant of the house's original builder arranges to move it back into the country once again. ( )
