Lee Child is great at what he does. The stories are always interesting, tales woven together to form an excellent story. It's the 5th one in the series, not much else to say, but by now, you know if you like Jack Reacher or not, and I definitely do! ( )

Started very, very slowly. Could have cut about 100 pages. Not as fun as most Reacher books. ( )

This book was slowwer than the others. Reacher is hitch hiking through west Texas when he's picked up by Carmen Greer. She's the beautiful and possibly abused mexican wife of Sloop Greer. Carmen moves Reacher into the bunk house on the grounds of the Echo Ranch owned by the bigoted Greer family. Carmen needs Reacher's help? because her husband Sloop is getting out of jail and wants revenge on the wife that tipped off the cops about him. It was hard for me to like Carmen or even feel bad for her situation. Sloop comes home but instead of Carmen getting it, it's Sloop with a bullet in his head. Reacher just should have kept walking and let Carmen Greer drive past him. ( )

Pretty quiet book for the first half; then it took off. The summary took two hours of the 13 total. Some of that could have been toned down with some details that could be skipped--excruciating details of roads travelled and banal descriptions of beds and sleeping quarters, e.g. Reacher's deductive power evident. Fun read overall. ( )
