Choice in student instruction allows for students to take control of their learning. It allows them to address learning from the perspective of their own strengths. Motivation, independence, focus, persistence are all strengthened in the process of completing instructional activities where choice has been encouraged. This book gives the teacher guidance to allow choice through the use of menus in the language arts classroom. Clear explanations of menu types, product guidelines, and rubrics are included, as well as a great number of ready for use menus on topics of literary elements, genres, mechanics and writing.

I like it A Lot! Choice is so important for students just as it is for all of us. With choice interest levels rise for both students and parents when menus are used for homework and home projects that are assigned. The Science book in this series was used with our 5th graders during summer school this year and teachers are requesting that both the science and language arts editions be ordered for next year. My only suggestion would be perforated pages for masters for easier copying. (

This book is the second I have used for homeschooling my daughter I really love the social studies so I know I would love the language arts one. The lesson plans and work pages in it are wonderful and easy to use. With this book it is easy to teach and my child actually enjoys doing the work. I highly recommend this book if you homeschool or teach. (
