Though I'm not officially diagnosed with ADHD (and may or may not have it- my lack of social skills may be due to difficulties learning caused by early hearing problems), this book has been a great help. It had me saying, "They expected me to know that!?!" a number of times. The fact is, no one TEACHES social skills after elementary school. No one says, "Here's how to make small talk." Everyone just gets it- except me, and apparently some other people. Lucky for us, this book lays everything out in a clear way. Why didn't someone hand me this while I was struggling through middle school? Anyway, for anyone who's even a litttle socially unsure, pick up a copy (regardless of whether you have ADHD), and read through to find out the rules you were supposed to have already known. Focusing on social skills training for adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorders (AD/HD), this book offers solutions for tackling behavior that is often inattentive, impulsive, and hyperactive. Advice is given on how to handle common social problems such as manners, etiquette, communication, subtext, listening, and interpersonal relationships. The format of the book is designed for AD/HD learning styles and includes true stories, practical exercises, and tips that keep those with AD/HD reading. Adults with AD/HD learn how to identify behaviors in themselves that can cause problems in social relationships. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |

This in no way is meant to imply the advice in the book is bad - it's just that it's no cure-all, and if you have a pretty good idea of what you're doing wrong but have no idea how to fix that, you might feel like you wasted your time reading it. ( )
