It is difficult to read a book when you don’t like the characters. It took me almost a week to read because I kept putting the book down unread. Fortunately, I had read book 5 (out of order), so I knew the author had stepped back to her roots. I plan to read more of this series. ( ) Pepper goes out of town to give a speech for her boss. She meets a ghost on a tour and is brought together with Dan again. This time to help save him, says the ghost. This ghost is not everything she says, and has some secrets that could hurt many. Pepper gets lied to, attacted, and driven to the edge in this fantastic story. I was close to five stars, it's that good. One trope that can guaranteed take away from a decent book (at least for me) is the self-absorbed narrator who starts out the book by stating multiple times how gorgeous she is and how well she dresses and how everyone wants her. Pepper is, unfortunately, very much that type of narrator. I almost put the book down within the first few pages, but decided I wanted to see where the mystery went, and I'm glad I did. This book was in no way a classic, but it was a fun, light read, with some interesting paranormal aspects. The ending wasn't the best ever, but it was satisfactory within the context of the book. If the author can tone down the narrator ( and the stereotypes about how one can be beautiful or brilliant but not both) and tampen down the ridiculousness of some of the dialogue towards the end, this could be a fun series people stick with. Casey Daniels has done it again! As always Pepper Martin is sassy, funny, spunky and sarcastic.... all the qualities I love in a heroine. True, she gets herself into a bit of trouble, but what fun would the novel be without that? The ability to communicate with the dead wasn't something that Pepper asked for, it just sort of happened to her. But, she's coping... Ghosts keep popping up and asking her for favors. In this latest Pepper Martin mystery, the ghost isn't as sweet as she may seem, she has a hidden agenda. But when that hidden agenda brings the light to Pepper's eyes when it comes to a certain hunky guy, maybe that isn't such a bad thing. Over all, this was one of the best Pepper Martin books to date! I can't wait to see what Ms. Daniels will come up with next! Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

"Pepper Martin, heiress-turned-cemetery-tour-guide, has her hands full with work, two hotties, and the ghosts who won't let her rest--or work, or shop--in peace... The last thing Pepper wants during her Chicago business trip is more ghosts seeking her help, as they've been doing ever since she hit her head on a tombstone. Then again, being bored stiff during a seminar might actually be worse than being with bored stiffs. The specter of Madeline--a young woman in a lab coat--wants Pepper's help. Before she died, Madeline worked with Dan Callahan, the sexy, mysterious doctor who once saved Pepper's life. According to Madeline, Dan's in danger. But, little does Pepper know, there's more to the story, including a devious doctor--and an obsessive, crazy love..."--p. [4] of cover. No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
