[title: The Caine Mutiny] is a near-perfect novel. It's a great combination of a character study and an adventure story. And, because the characters (especially Captain Queeg) are so much fun to read about, even the parts that would otherwise be boring keep you hooked. I've read plenty of Pulitzer prize-winning novels that were less than great, but this one lives up to the hype. One caution: don't watch the movie, or even read about the cast, before you read the novel. Some of the casting decisions are baffling, and you don't want those Hollywood actors getting in the way of your imagination. I enjoyed the movie (which I saw before reading the book). Excellent reading. This one is from my adolescent reading of war novels. 87-3 Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

The Novel that Inspired the Now-Classic Film The Caine Mutiny and the Hit Broadway Play The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial Herman Wouk's boldly dramatic, brilliantly entertaining novel of life-and mutiny-on a Navy warship in the Pacific theater was immediately embraced, upon its original publication in 1951, as one of the first serious works of American fiction to grapple with the moral complexities and the human consequences of World War II. In the intervening half century, The Caine Mutiny has become a perennial favorite of readers young and old, has sold millions of copies throughout the world, and has achieved the status of a modern classic. Oh man, loved it. The character interactions were amazing! Everything was well done and worked out exactly as could be hoped...except for the Willie Keith and May drama, wish that would have come to a more finalized conclusion, but I guess we are supposed to draw our own (which, of you've read any of my past reviews, I don't like doing.) anyway, couldn't have asked for more, big fan, read it of you have a chance.
