Ultimately his intention is to show how each of us finds ourselves there. The most telling comment in the book is that it was not great evil that led to Jesus' crucifixion, but a multitude of common sins...indifference, ambition, jealousy, etc. Sangster tries to locate us at the cross, though sometimes this happens in a very hit-and-miss way. But mostly, Sangster does a good job, epecially in making sin a personal condition, against those who only see social consequences to sin. At times I felt quite convicted by this book.
