I thought the idea was really interesting, but the writing and human characters not so much, and ugh Seth is just too frustrating for words, and too obvious a mechanism to set up story plot/drama.

I'm reading the second only because of the magical world, hopefully the humans don't get in the way too much ( )

Fun young adult fantasy. I never read the rest of the series, maybe someday... ( )

Read this book awhile ago and although I think it would be too "easy" now, I remember liking it a LOT when I read is as a 5th grader! ( )

I read Fablehaven #1 either when I was about to graduate HS or I had just graduated HS, but it's evident that it has been many moons since I have read this book. I remember that it had a Spiderwick style flair to it with notes of Percy Jackson's series. Some people may see this as a standard fantasy novel- adventures, magic, beasts and the typical 'Journey of the Hero' setup but I remember the series melding realism and fantasy together very well. This shouldn't shock anyone but it was creature heavy (always a plus for me. It's one of my more important criteria). I loved the idea of a magical creature preserve. I actually have not read anything after the first book, but I've been meaning to. ( )

Absolutley love this book. Seth is definitely aggravating and always seems to make the erong choices. They are mistakes he learns from though. Wish they would make a movie out of this series as good as they did Harry Potter series. Keep all the magic and wonder and suspense. ( )
