The characters were very engaging. It is a feel good book about women's friendship and discovering who they are. The evolution of one of the character's going from not knowing who she is or who she wants to be to being a strong, confident woman who knows what she wants is inspiring. It's okay to not be perfect as long as you are consciously working on making your life the happiest it can be. This was a really good, easy read. There was nothing life-changing about it; it was just a nice way to spend an afternoon. I liked that the women were fairly realistic- they weren't always nice and sometimes they made bad choices. I found them likable and relatable. This was a book I'll probably read again. Noreen is starting over and not 100% by choice. She took a buy out at the job she's been working for years. She took that buy out in part because of Michael. When the first day of her redundancy sets in, Noreen is surprised to find out that Michael has been using her. So, no job, no boyfriend, not super close with/to her family, what's a girl to do? On a whim, she decides to start walking. She meets Tess and Rosie and they form a walking group. They make a plan to encourage themselves and each other to keep walking. They will reward themselves at the end of the summer (I probably shouldn't say how in case it's a spoiler). Frankly it was a great idea to dangle a reward. I'm not one to exercise but if I had a deal with myself that keeping to that exercise would yield a reward, well, I think it's a great motivator and a fun storyline. Random notes: The lavender details were lots of fun I never felt like I really knew the characters, by the end I was still getting Rosie and Tess confused. I'm not trying to be critical, but the main character was just clearly Noreen and her friends were a little too secondary for my taste Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

HTML: Just put one foot in front of the other. Sounds simple, doesn't it? But when Noreen Kelly takes a buyout from her job of eighteen years and gets dumped by her boyfriend in one fell swoop, she finds it hard to know what that next step isâ??never mind take it. At first Noreen thinks maybe her redundancy package could be an opportunity, a chance to figure out what to do with the rest of her life while her company foots the bill. Sure, she may have gotten high to "Witchy Woman" and grooved to "Sweet Baby James" back when James Taylor had hair, but she isn't ready for her AARP card. Not yet. Characters poorly developed, timeline of story very compressed for no particular reason. Overly obsessed with lavender farms.
It's really not a good book but I did finish it and I don't hate it. I reserve one star for books I really dislike or that I can't finish.
Best part is the cover. ( )
