The fly hides in a trash-can and unexpectedly is taken to the dump, where the boy searches for him among the hundreds of other flies, until he finally finds him. This book is helpful because of the large and comprensible words, and the many pictures. I would have this book in my classroom library and encourage students to read the series it comes from, if they are interested. For beginning readers. It tells the story of a fly who proves that it can be a pet. Despite what society thinks the fly and its friend enter a competition to win best pet. This book is perfect to introduce students to chapter books in a way that is fun and engaging. This book is suitable for primary grades. It is about a fly who hears again and again that he can not be a pet. But, the fly proves everyone wrong by displaying how smart he is. This book is a great example of rising above the labels others put on you. It reflects how proving others false opinions wrong can push away those stereotypes. I would use this book in my classroom as a way to give students a sense of confidence and independence in their reading. This is a great book for letting children read independently. It is also useful because it conveys to children that labels are just labels and can be proven wrong. Primary. A kid name Buzz meets a fly who can say his name (bzz), so he decides to keep him as a pet, and later enters him into the pet show and wins smartest pet. I really loved these books as a kid and they helped make the transition from picture books to chapter books much easier. By introducing "chapters" and giving that sense of reading a chapter book can help students gain confidence in this category. The book is super silly and follows a boy as he befriends a fly and develops a friendship with him as they win a prize at a pet contest after proving that the fly is in fact a pet.
Kindergarten-Grade 2–A boy goes out searching for a smart animal to take to The Amazing Pet Show and bumps into a fly that is intelligent enough to say the childs name, Buzz. Although his parents and the judges feel at first that a fly is only a pest, not a pet, the insect puts on a performance that astounds them all and wins an award. The cartoon illustrations showing characters with exaggerated wide eyes are delightful, but the text is somewhat weak and disjointed.–Anne Knickerbocker, formerly at Cedar Brook Elementary School, Houston, TX Pertany a aquestes sèriesFly Guy (1)
