Apunta't a LibraryThing per saber si aquest llibre et pot agradar. No hi ha cap discussió a Converses sobre aquesta obra. I put this on the wish list list from whence it was plucked (thank, kids!) mostly in the spirit of just adding to my collection of tree field guides. However, its front materials are excellent and included information I had not picked up in several years of reading tree-related books. The main body is well organized, well illustrated, and well written. And there's even a handy "tree watchers" checklist in the back, to track the trees you see in the real world. So I have a strong feeling this will not just be sitting on my shelf looking pretty, but will see active use in the years to come. ( )
Is David Allen Sibley's new work as useful, reliable and interesting as his book on birds? For me, a nonbotanist who has wandered through forests in much of the country, it is. This guidebook is filled with clear, concise descriptions and wonderful drawings of species ranging from sumac to saguaro.
"This book covers the identification of 668 native and commonly cultivated trees found in the temperate areas of North America north of Mexico. This includes most of the continental United States and Canada, an area corresponding to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) plant hardiness zones 1-8"--Introduction, p. ix.
