Rating: 95% (4.75 stars) ( ![]() I had high hopes for this book, it had a lot of ratings with an average of 4.0 and I saw it on a goodreads list to read and the plot sounded good. In the first part of the book, I almost stopped reading the characters were annoying me but I continued on, hoping that things would get better. Even after everything was revealed, there was nothing there to make me say, this was a great book. I liked the main character Nora for the most part, but every time she had a scene with Patch, I was just so annoyed with her. I did not like the other characters, I found Vee annoying and that doesn't hold a candle to how I feel about Patch. I get he was suppose to be the bad boy but there is a difference between hard core and being a stalker. I did not like how he never listened to Nora, evaded her personal space, grabbed her, chased her and just all around forced his will upon her. He never really listened to her and when he would grab her and wouldn't back off, I just found that creepy and I wished Nora wouldn't have put up with it. She was such a push over when it came to Patch and I wish she would of be a strong girl who would of not let Patch treat her like that. There was a couple of things I liked about the story but overall there was just too much that I didn't like and I just don't get why it has such high ratings. I've in the past, read the next book in the series because sometimes they get better, but I read the summary of the plot and it just doesn't sound that interesting, even though it has such high ratings. 'I told myself a lot of things could cause scars like Patch's. Gang fight, prison scars, skid marks - just like Vee said. Unfortunately, all the excuses felt like lies. Like the truth was staring me in the face, but I wasn't brave enough to look back.' Sixteen year old Nora Grey has never been interested in Romance. But when Patch, the new and mysterious boy at School becomes her Biology partner, Nora starts to have feelings that she's never felt before. But there's something off about Patch; why is his School file empty, and why is he so secretive about his life? Not to mention the fact that Patch seems to know everything about her, and ever since he arrived, Nora keeps having terrifying encounters, only to find no evidence of it when she tells somebody about it. Is Nora just having bad luck, or is Patch involved in these events? Either way, her life will never be the same now that Patch is in it. MY OPINION I did enjoy reading this book, but not as much as I thought I would. The book was named as 'the hottest book of 2010' by Sugar Magazine, but for me, it didn't live up to that claim. The problem for me really is that there are so many books that have the same type of story. While this one is different, since it doesn't involve Vampires or Werewolves, it still has the same basis for the story. There's a girl in High School, she's never had a boyfriend, and a strange new boy comes to the School. She tries to deny her feelings for him, but he's everywhere, and eventually she falls for him. The same kind of thing happens in so many books, that if the book doesn't have something really special about it, it doesn't stand out for me. I enjoyed the concept of the book, it was interesting since it was about Angels when most books of this type are about Vampires. Unfortunately, when Nora finds out what Patch really is, it wasn't a surprise for me at all, since this is given away by the cover of the book, and the slogan under the title. So the mystery and suspense wasn't really there for me, since I already knew what he was. However, Nora is followed by a strange man in a ski mask on several occasions. This man attacks Nora's best friend Vee, and Vee is convinced that it's Patch. When I found out the identity of this attacker, I was shocked. I had no idea who it was all, and it was the last person I expected. So that was an element of the story that I really did enjoy. It took me by surprise, when I thought that I'd pretty much figured out how the book was heading. Overall, I can't give this book more than 3 stars. I enjoyed it, I found it easy to read and finished it within a few days, but it just didn't stand out for me enough, in a world of very similar books. At the end of this book is a preview chapter of the sequel, but I'm not sure if I'll be reading it. I'm quite interested to see what happens next, but I think I'll be looking for it in the Library, instead of buying it. THE AUTHOR This book is the first in the 'Hush,Hush' series by Becca Fitzpatrick. The other books in this series are, 'Crescendo', 'Silence', and 'Finale.' She has also written a standalone novel, called 'Black Ice' which is due for release in 2014. Finally a book that goes right next to the Twilight series and Harry Potter in my forever favorite books. This book was perfect. It was full of mystery, little horror and love and romance. Everything you need in a good book. Also there aren't that many books like this about fallen angels or any angels and I quite like all the fantasy that this book brought to me. I can't wait for the next book. It was just perfect and I feel that the story is just starting. LOVED IT, TOTALLY! He was so wrong it felt right, and that made me feel completely out of control.
This book is ON FIRE! It's downright fantastic--from the book cover which is just tempting until the very last page. I finished this book in just one sitting. I actually read this book twice in one week. And I just love my best friend for lending me this book because I know I'll be missing half of my life if I hadn't read this. Moving on, the concept of the story was very well defined. I simply adore how Becca made the story incredibly without trying too hard. The writing was just awesome and there were remarkable dialogues. The characters complement each other very well and they are easy to like. ...första delen av en rad böcker om Bella, förlåt, Nora som träffar en mörk, sexig, vältränad, mystisk och lite farlig kille på gymnasiet, Edward, förlåt, Patch. In a thrilling debut with an attention-grabbing cover, this game of revenge among fallen angels with Nora caught in the middle has too many coincidences to move the plot along and an uneven, rushed ending. Twilight readers will either squeal over the forbidden romance between Nora and Patch and the steamy scenes they generate or sigh over another helpless young woman torn between sexuality and fear and threatened and manipulated by males who play with her vulnerability. Although the concept of an archangel willing to become human for love is compelling, the mythology could have been better researched and often appears to be inserted in the story as an afterthought. Twilight comparisons are unavoidable and may prove to be either a delight or distraction. These include a first-person narrative told by a smart but innocent girl and an unsettling much-older biology lab partner who stalks and romances her as he reluctantly puts her in mortal danger. Even the setting of Nora Grey's foggy Coldwater, Maine, is interchangeable with Bella Swan's dreary Forks, Washington. Nora's tempestuous relationship with prototypical bad boy Patch is genuinely, even unsettlingly, seductive—fans of paranormal romance should be rapt.
