This book describes how to gather everything you need to make paper right from your own kitchen. Featuring chapters on art & decorative techniques, recycling, paper history, what paper is made of & more, this 80 page book (complete with over 60 photos) is also a small encyclopedia of paper art & science. Written by Arnold Grummer, former curator of the Dard Hunter Paper Museum housed in the Institute of Paper Chemistry, the language in this book is so simple a grade school student would have no trouble using it, yet the science discussed in the book has compelled many adults. The book also gives step-by-step instructions for making invitations, envelopes, round stationery, flower embedments & much more using a set of tin cans & other common kitchen items. An excellent resource material or home craft guide. "...beginners will be able to create something genuinely beautiful in a short period of time..environmental information about paper & recycling is presented without preaching."--Bloomsbury Review. Adults, too, however, can enjoy this activity, with or without a child companion. It uses readily available materials, nothing special to buy, and nothing dangerous to use. Adult supervision would be good for the younger ones using a blender, perhaps.
Given the current stress on recycling, this book seems particularly appropriate and a good way to use up all the junk mail that comes in. Kids love to to that.
Anyway, the product is quite nice and everyone seems to enjoy making the paper.
I recommend it very much for a different activity with your kids.
