First day of school book, confusion, misunderstanding, fiction

Amelia is extremely excited about starting school. Amelia Bedelia loves her name. When the teacher wrote just Amelia on her name tag, she added her last name because it rhymed. It was obvious that school routines were new to Amelia. She was very literally and it made her peers laugh. When one of her classmates said she should be the teacher’s pet Amelia thought, she loved pets but she didn’t want to be one. During recess instead of jumping rope like the others, she placed the rope on the ground and jumped over it and the students joined her. Usually children are concerned about the opinions of their peers but Ameila’s outgoing personality and excitement for school allowed her to make friends. This is a great lesson for students, be yourself. ( )

Amelia Bedelia is sure that she will absolutely love school--after all, what's not to love? But after hopping on the bus "just like a bunny" (hurry up, sweetie!), confusing her name tag with a game (we are not playing tag), and gluing herself to her seat (oh, dear), Amelia Bedelia discovers that what she takes for granted is not always the way the world works. Still, friendships are formed, lessons are learned, and projects are completed, and through it all Amelia Bedelia's teacher, Mrs. Edwards, offers gentle guidance and an open heart. This book is another one that is considered a classic to me because I grew up reading Amelia Bedelia books. I have always loved reading these books because of how quirky, funny, and crazy they are. Amelia Bedelia is such a quirky character, and I love her for that because in a way it makes her more relatable. ( )

Amelia Bedelia is ready for her first day of school. At the beginning of the day, she mistakes that the class is playing tag and runs around the room. All throughout the day, anytime someone tells her to do something, she does exactly that. For role call she says "it," for jump rope she jumps over her rope, and after craft she glues herself into her chair. When her teacher asks her at the end of the day why she's still sitting in her chair, Amelia Bedelia shows her that her bottom is glued to her chair, and her teacher helps her unstick herself. While she does, the teacher tells Amelia that that was her first day of school is that day, and she is a brand new teacher. As Amelia leaves, her teacher tags her, and tells her she is "it" until tomorrow morning, when Amelia Bedelia is excited to come back to school.
