I had mixed feelings about this book when I read it. I really enjoyed the plot and details but the illustrations did not interest me. The plot was about a boy's cat who got in a fight and is injured. It goes through the whole story of how the boy's Mother broke her arm when she was a child and then relates this to the cat's injuries. I think this was a really interesting way to display the details of the story. To mirror the story of a cat through the story of a girl with a broken arm was a very complex way to describe the plot and encourages abstract thinking for the reader. The plot also taught empathy and exaggeration to the reader through he details in the story. I thought the plot was written amazingly and I was so interested. Unfortunately, I did not think that the illustrations helped to enhance the story all that much. They were very detailed which was good but they did not add much to the story for me. I was bored by the illustrations and eventually stopped looking at anything other than the text on the page. For example on one page there was just a very small image of a cat. The page had a ton of text about the cats fighting and an illustration could have really enhanced it. Instead it just had a minuscule image of a cat by itself. This did not help the reader at all. The main idea of the story was that empathy can go a long way and that everybody can relate to others even if it is in an abstract way. I thought this book was cute but would have been much better with different illustrations. ( )

In my opinion this was a very informative book. It is very descriptive, and flows very well. The main character asks his mom about the time when she broke her arm because his cat is at the vet because he was hurt. The main idea is to show the reader that even though you injury yourself you are able to be fixed.
