This was the cookbook my mom gave me when I started college. Tons of recipes you'll use all the time. Great pictures. Nutritional information at the bottom of each recipe, which is nice. ( )

This is one of the best BASIC cookbooks. Phyllis and Billy gave it to me before I went off to seminary. I use it for when I need a normal recipe - great for beginner cooks, but should be on every shelf! ( )

I enjoy this cookbook not really for the recipes but it shows how to cook items and how long and different ways of cooking them. i haven't really used it a lot yet... ( )

We use this a lot. The recipes aren't particularly spectacular, but they're close to fool-proof. Also, there's pages of general information on ingredients and technique; anything we need to know is either in here or in McGee's "On Food and Cooking." ( )
