This "Ghost" may not walk through walls, but walls had better not get in his way! A new techno-thriller adventure series by a New York Times best-selling author. This is a breakout title with strong cross-category appeal. Former SEAL Michael Harmon, Team Name "Ghost", retired for service injuries, is not enjoying college life. But things are about to change, if not for the better. When he sees a kidnapping a series of, at the time logical, decisions leave him shot to ribbons and battling a battalion of Syrian commandos with only the help of three naked co-eds who answer to the names "Bambi," "Thumper" and "Cotton Tail." A fast-paced, highly-sexual, military-action thriller that ranges from a poison facory in the Mideast to the Florida Keys to Siberia, the novel will keep you guessing what twisted fate will bring next for the man once known as . . . Ghost. Keep an eye on him or . . . poof, he'll be gone.… (més)

This book has been sitting on my to-read list for a very long time. As a matter of fact it is a long time since I have read a book by John Ringo. Generally I like his books. This one was a bit difficult for me to read though.

The book blurb should already give you some hint that this book is not for everyone. It is certainly not a book for easily offended liberals but then this is John Ringo so that should really not be a surprise.

The hero in this book is a former SEAL that is thrown into a series of action filled events against Muslim terrorists all over the world. Let’s make one thing clear from the start. Said terrorists are the bad guys in this book. There are no rosy pictures painted or lame attempts to explain away the fact that they are terrorists. They are depraved and despicable people regarding everyone except themselves, especially women, to be cattle to be slaughtered or, in the case of women, abused.

The story follows the “Ghost” through a series of situation where he proceeds to kick the ass, usually in a permanent manner, of these terrorists. This is the part of the book I do like. Plenty of action and lots of asswipes getting exactly what they deserve. The biased mainstream media gets a bit of a beating as well. We even have a president in this book that does not shy away from doing what needs to be done. Having said that, although the action was fun read, I’d say that it was perhaps a bit struggling in the credibility department.

However, the hero is not without problems himself. He is actually quite unlikable. In particular he entertains sexual desires that are not exactly my cup of tea. This in itself do in no way get my pants into some moral twist or anything but when half the book is about sexual activities of the kind that a lot of people, most people probably, would consider fairly depraved then it is a bit too much even for me.

So for me there was really good parts in this book, there was bad parts and there was quite ugly parts. The book was also kind of three consecutive short stories stringed together. So altogether I could not really justify more than three out of five stars for this one and I was actually struggling a bit to give it as much as that. ( )

One of my favorite books of all time. If you love watching action movies where the stars seem to get into ridiculous situations, but miraculously survive, you'll love this series. It's bdsm scenes are also a hell of a lot more healthy and safe than 50 shades. ( )

Some stupid, hormone-infused teenager must have written this book. Because that's the only way I can explain all the hot naked chicks in this story. Why'd they have to be naked? I mean yes, of course I want them to be naked. But is there really any reason for them to be naked? Not really.

This book tells the story of some fucked-up terrorist organization that kidnaps several hot college chicks. They strip the girls naked, and chain them to a few rows of benches in a hot, sweaty room.

The terrorists make a video, showing the hot chained up girls. Telling the United States government to go fuck themselves. "We gots all yer womens, motherfuckers. Suck a dick! Yeah! Fuck America!"

Enter Michael 'The Ghost' Harmon. He's a retired special forces guy, who gets his nickname 'The Ghost' because he's a sneaky motherfucker. You'll never see him coming.

Ghost witnesses one of the kidnappings, and trails the van all the way to the terrorist hideout. He hangs out in the vents of the warehouse, biding his time, just like Bruce Willis in Die Hard. "So this is what a TV dinner feels like..."

It's the Ghost against probably 50 or more bad guys. He takes them out one by one. Saves the naked girls, and gets a sloppy blowjob for a reward.

It's a very simple story. Not very much depth to it. Like I said, It's like a fucking pimpled-faced teenager wrote it. It's just trashy fun, with no substance. And I loved it. ( )

Trigger warning, I suppose.

This like a Tom Clancy book, but with weirder sex, much of it non-consensual. Also, not as well thought through or as well researched or as believable. I couldn't bring myself to finish it.

Who is Mike Harmon you ask?

Navy Seal? Check
Bad Ass? Definitely
Killer? Only if you look at him wrong (or maybe he is having an off day)
Rapist Fantasies? Right there in the first chapter
Sexual Deviant? I wish I didn't know
More then you want to know? Same here...
Another Ghost novel? Not even if you paid me

This is a disturbing, unredeemable piece of trash that I wouldn't even wish on Mike Harmon (well maybe him)!!! ( )
