(2001)Another so-so thriller that does have a good story but strains credibility the closer to the end it got. NASA discovers a meteorite under Artic ice but a White House aide discovers that it has been faked. A security agency is trying to keep the secret and winds up killing about half dozen people to do it. Coincidences just pile up to the point of making the book laughable at the end. Hack stuff by a hack. I have officially read every Dan Brown book and I am begging for more. I did not find Deception Point as good as Dan Brown's other novels, but it was still an instant classic that kept me on my toes. This novel was more of a political thriller, since it follows a secret NASA and the American Government have been hiding from the public. It was a well thought out plot with great character development, but I wanted more out of the novel. I wanted a little more suspense and thrills in this novel similar to Digital Fortress. This novel had nothing wrong with it other than me being selfish and wanting more action and thrills. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a quick read with thrills and unexpected plot twists. A great novel! I also want a sequel to this novel, since I want to see all the backlash that happens after the secret is discovered, and the continued building of relationships between some of the main characters. But alas, I doubt we will get one anytime soon from Dan Brown. I will hope though. There is a lot of potential for the characters in this book for further novels, and potentially discovering other secrets different Governments or agencies have hidden away from the public. Four out of five stars, since I wanted more action and thrills.
It's an excellent thriller a big yet believable story unfolding at breakneck pace, with convincing settings and just the right blend of likable and hateful characters. He's also done his research, folding in sophisticated scientific and military details that make his plot far more fulfilling than the norm.
Fiction.
Thriller.
