This is very much not a character driven story, which is why it was very hard for me to get into. Also the art style of this graphic novel is not exactly what I enjoy looking at, but overall I did enjoy it, just probably not as much as others did. ( ) I am new to comics and graphic novels. I really like Neil Gaiman and Sandman is highly recommended by many so I bought the first collection of 8 comics. At first I thought: this is really not for me. I stopped reading for about a week. I pressed on and got a little more interested but was pretty sure I wouldn't continue until I got to #8. A very, very different look and vibe from the first 7 and one I liked much more - enough for me to tackle Volume 2 before making a decision about this whole thing. This was so good! I loved [b:Stardust|16793|Stardust|Neil Gaiman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1459127484l/16793._SY75_.jpg|3166179] and [b:Norse Mythology|37903770|Norse Mythology|Neil Gaiman|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1516128292l/37903770._SX50_.jpg|51396954], but I definitely wasn't prepared for this. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I was surprised at how engaged I was. Horror (in this case, I guess horror/fantasy?) is not a genre I normally read. But Gaiman's writing is so masterful I knew this had to be good. And the art was so well done. I loved all the details. Preludes & Nocturnes (classified as The Sandman, volume 1: Preludes & Nocturnes) is the first trade paperback collection of the comic book series The Sandman, published by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo. It collects issues #1–8. It is written by Neil Gaiman, illustrated by Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg and Malcolm Jones III, colored by Robbie Busch and lettered by Todd Klein. The first seven issues of this collection comprise the "More Than Rubies" storyline, which introduces Dream. The eighth issue, "The Sound of Her Wings", is a self-contained story that serves as an epilogue to the More Than Rubies plot and introduces the character Death. It was first issued in paperback in 1991, and later in hardback in 1995 and features an introduction by Paul Wilson. Basically this volume shows Dream being resurrected, and restoring the land of dreams! While catching up with his sister, Death (who is a fan favorite). I found Preludes and Nocturnes to be mythic, dark and horrific, as well as transcendent. It is truly one of the greatest works in the graphic novel canon. And it is an intriguing mythos that is both apart of the DC Universe, yet something distinctly its own. Sense ressenyes | afegeix-hi una ressenya

HTML: NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Neil Gaiman's transcendent series SANDMAN is often hailed as the definitive Vertigo title and one of the finest achievements in graphic storytelling. Gaiman created an unforgettable tale of the forces that existbeyond life and death by weaving ancient mythology, folklore and fairy tales with his own distinct narrative vision. In PRELUDES & NOCTURNES, an occultist attempting to capture Death to bargain for eternal life traps her younger brother Dreaminstead. After his seventy-year imprisonment and eventual escape, Dream, also known as Morpheus, goes on a quest for his lost objects of power. On his arduous journey Morpheus encounters Lucifer, John Constantine, and an all-powerful madman. Thisbook also includes the story "The Sound of Her Wings," which introduces us to the pragmatic and perky goth girl Death. Collects issues #1-8. .No s'han trobat descripcions de biblioteca. |
