Really didn't like the hero, Demos. He was a self absorbed whiny twit. The heroine, Althea, had some really bad personal history that affected her entire life. When he finally finds out what had happened to her as a young girl, he couldn't even come up with a "OMG! that's horrible" All he thought was "crap another person with problems that I'll have to deal with and which will suck me dry emotionally."

I was really expecting more of a reaction like in [b:Over the Edge|174357|Over the Edge (Troubleshooters, #3)|Suzanne Brockmann|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1172426828s/174357.jpg|745260] by Suzanne Brockmann. Stan is horrified by the experiences Teri went through as a young girl and they were nowhere near as bad as those in this book. He immediately wanted to hunt down the man who had hurt her.

Here the hero could only think that he hadn't gotten the free and easy sexually adventurous woman he thought he was marrying, even though she kept telling him she didn't want to marry him and he didn't really know her. As for the heroine, all I could think was that woman needed some serious professional help. It's a wonder she was a sane as she was. ( )
