S'està carregant… The Night Bookmobile (2010)de Audrey Niffenegger

( ![]() Much sadder than I expected but enjoyable nonetheless. The setting is vivid Chicago, which is something I like about Niffenegger's work. I loved the concept, but was less impressed with the artwork. It was fine, but not necessarily my style or preference for graphic novels. A quick read but thought-provoking. A book-in-progress by Audrey Niffenegger to be titled The Library -- First chapter is this graphic novel, The Night Bookmobile It's own description is better than what I could write: First serialized as a weekly column in the UK's Guardian newspaper, The Night Bookmobile tells the story of a wistful woman who one night encounters a mysterious disappearing library on wheels that contains every book she has ever read. Seeing her history and most intimate self in this library, she embarks on a search for the bookmobile. But her search turns into an obsession, as she longs to be reunited with her own collection and memories. I was loving it and then -- Second chapter, Moths of the New World (pub 2011) "An illustrated reference book about moths wakes to find herself in a strange apartment." A short story available online here: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/nov/07/short-story-audrey-niffenegger -- Third chapter is Requiem for a Bookshop also available online: https://www.audreyniffenegger.com/blog/2017/8/8/requiem-for-a-bookshop A book specifically written for lovers of the written word. Beautifully illustrated, enchanting and of course in perfect Niffenegger style, awfully depressing. Despite other readers disappointment, I truly enjoyed this beautiful work of art. Audrey certainly writes for herself and no one else and I highly respect that. This story could have gone down many paths but it stayed true to the unexpected and the not so picture perfect ending. That's why I love Audrey. I really like the idea of this book, BUT I could not understand why the author had to end it in the manner she did. Very frustrated with the end. Very much a cop out.
